3  History and Geneology / Our Roots / Re: What is your personal story making Aliya to Israel? on: September 18, 2007, 02:16:21 PM
Hi,

my name is Jonas Pariente, I'm a French documentary filmmaker based in NYC, and I'm currently preparing a film on the Bene Israel community who still lives in India (shooting Spring 2008).

I read your post on the Jews Of India forum page, the post where you ask people to tell their Aliyah stories.

I was curious to know if you are yourself doing a research on the subject, and if so to what extent.

Are you Bene Israel yourself?

I would love to hear from you,

Best regards & Shana Tova

Dear Sarah,

my name is Jonas Pariente, I'm a French documentary filmmaker based in NYC, and I'm currently preparing a film on the Bene Israel community still living in India (shooting Spring 2008).

I am obviously very interested in the Bene Israel culture and tradition, and considering you have posted several pots of recipes on the Jews of India forum page I thought I would contact you.

Do you live in the US?
If so, I would be delighted to meet you Smiley

If not, maybe we could talk on the phone. I would be really interested in hearing your opinion about the transmission of Bene Israel culture.

I look forward to hearing from you

Best regards & Shana Tova !

5  History and Geneology / Our Roots / Re: Indian-Jewish Cemeteries in India on: September 18, 2007, 08:58:43 AM
Theses photos are a wonderful historical work.

Did you take them all?

Is there a list of all the Jewish cemeteries in India? Is there a history for each of them?

I would really like to know more about all this, maybe you can email me directly: parientejonas @ gmail . com

Best
